Mientras tanto, en el resto del país y principalmente las zonas de Guanacaste y el Pacífico Central, se desbordaron ríos, se derrumbaron terrenos que enterraron a hombres, mujeres y niños en sus propias casas, se cerraron carreteras por la destrucción de puentes y derrumbes, hubo más de 7000 personas evacuadas en albergues y muchísimas zonas del país quedaron incomunicadas, personas atrapadas en carreteras, casas completamente dañadas, centros de salud inundados y muchos estragos más.

Gracias a Dios mis familiares se encuentran bien, pero vienen ahora la coordinación y tareas de apoyo para las numerosas familias que lo han perdido todo. Familias cercanas, vecinos y compañeros de trabajo que hoy no tienen agua, alimentos ni donde dormir porque el agua solo les dio tiempo de salir. Costa Rica es un pueblo solidario, donde el “pura vida” se vive y es en estos momentos cuando más nos unimos para ayudar a los hermanos que lo han perdido todo.
De acuerdo con UNISDR, en Costa Rica, Nicaragua y Honduras suman 22 personas fallecidas, y más de 20 siguen desaparecidas en Costa Rica. Además, cerca de medio millón de costarricenses se encuentran sin servicio de agua potable.
