Similitud entre un Plan de Continuidad de Negocios y una Partitura de una Obra Musical
Al tratarse la música de un elemento cotidiano e intrínseco de nuestra vida, he elegido este concepto para crear una metáfora con el Plan de Continuidad de Negocios (BCP en inglés) esperando ayudar así a todos mis colegas alrededor del mundo que se van iniciando en esta fascinante carrera profesional.
¿A cuántos de nosotros nos encanta escuchar música? ¿Cuántos hemos asistido a un concierto? De hecho me aventuro en alegar que todos tendemos a sentirnos atraídos por la línea o melodía de un instrumento en específico, abstrayéndonos de todo lo demás para darnos cuenta inmediatamente que su ejecución, a pesar que dista de las línea seguidas por el resto de músicos, no suena incómodo o doloroso al oído. Esto es a lo que se le llama armonía y tiene una relevancia importante en la composición de la música y lo tendrá también cuando hablamos de la implementación de un Programa de Continuidad de Negocios.
Un Plan de Continuidad de Negocio (o BCP por sus siglas en inglés), se me hace semejante a la partitura de la obra musical creada por un compositor, que posteriormente sería dirigida por un Director Musical e interpretada por los músicos ejecutantes durante un concierto.
Un Programa de Continuidad de Negocio es creado por el Business Continuity Professional y su staff, que deberá ser dirigido por el Equipo de Manejo de Crisis e interpretado por los líderes del negocio y otros colaboradores a cargo de la atención de emergencias, recuperación de las unidades de negocio y los de la recuperación técnica de servicios, para el momento en que las situaciones de riesgo se materializan en eventos reales, poniendo en peligro la vida de colaboradores y la operación continua del negocio.
A diferencia de una orquesta musical que se prepara para su concierto del siglo y brindar una noche de placer y dar rienda suelta a los sueños de su audiencia, un BCP se planifica para salvar vidas, minimizar el impacto que el desastre, el dolor y/o el caos puede traer a familias de colaboradores; permitiéndoles a estos últimos seguir viviendo, seguir produciendo y aportando a sus compañías, que de forma no egoísta, más bien responsable, han pensado en la relación simbiótica que los une y que entienden de la importancia de perpetuar sus actividades en cumplimiento de la visión, misión en la cual han creído, dando oportunidad a las compañías para seguir con su giro de negocio con la mínima interrupción posible.
Es por dicho motivo que implementar un simple Plan de Continuidad o su programa completo, requiere una mística para poder visualizarlo como un todo compuesto de pequeñas piezas, que deben trabajar de forma sincronizada sin olvidar ni dejar nada para la improvisación.
A nivel musical la improvisación es solo posible escucharla de forma real en un Jazz club. En otros ámbitos, como por ejemplo un concierto o un show con música popular o clásica, no existe ninguna línea que no haya sido ensayada y probada antes de llevarla a ejecución.
Al igual que en una orquesta musical, la comunicación transparente, la habilidad de establecer relaciones interpersonales honestas, la continua preparación/actualización profesional, la búsqueda de alcanzar objetivos comunes, la disciplina y el reporte a la gerencia, el cumplimiento de agendas, la armonía al colaborar con otros son de los principales ingredientes para un exitoso Programa de Continuidad de Negocios, siendo este la orquesta de los profesionales BCM.
